I know someone sent me an email, but I didn’t get it. What could be happening?

If the problem seems to be isolated to one person, make sure they have your correct email address. Ask the person to put something in the ‘subject’ line, as an empty subject line can trigger Spam filters. Also identify if the person is trying to send an attachment, which can be problematic if the size is too large. If the content of the email contains certain characters or words, it will have problems getting through Spam filters. Avoid characters such as ‘$’ and words like ‘money’ and ‘free.’ Custom email signatures can get trapped by filters.

Many email accounts, including clients using Vivid Image or Hutchtel for email, run through Spam filters such as Postini. While Spam filters are necessary and beneficial, they can take a little extra time on your part. Log into your account and adjust your settings. To do this, click on the ‘Junk Email’ link at the top-left of the screen. Adjust your settings to more lenient, rather than ‘off’. You can always try ‘off’ later if you need. Remember to click ‘Save changes.’ If you scroll down (in the same screen) you can manually add the person’s email address to the ‘Approved Senders’ list.
