If you want a great hot dog, you go to Facebook or Twitter, of course! I want to share something Remark!able with you today, and it’s a little business called “Red’s Hot”. This unique, small business relies solely on social media and word of mouth to sell their traveling hot dogs around the Hutchinson, MN area.
A few years ago, owner Greg Jodzio debuted his Vienna all-beef hot dogs in Central Minnesota. He didn’t open a restaurant or put up signage. He set up shop in a portable hot dog cart that he sets up in a different part of town each day. I like to think that he finds the sunniest part of town with a gentle breeze. Whether it was his delicious hot dog creations or his one-of-a-kind hot dog cart, people started lining up to buy hot dogs. Once word was out, people started asking where they could find him, and the word on the street was “Go to Facebook!”
Greg began posting his whereabouts on Facebook and Twitter, and his loyal followers flocked to find out what he is up to next. He includes his fans in new recipe ideas, asks for feedback, and always has a fun poem or one-liner to share like this one.
Raining cats . . . no dogs this weekend!
Those not on Facebook or Twitter have to resort to driving around town looking for the stand.
Pedestrians Beware! If you are walking down the streets of Hutchinson, MN and hear the words “Hutch Hottie” it’s likely nobody is referring to you. Sorry about that. They are likely referring to a popular hot dog that features a rich sauce, cheese, and raw onions. My favorite!
