WordPress 3.1 Rocks

Subscribers to our WordPress Safe and Sound plan will notice some great new freatures in WordPress as we roll out the latest 3.1 version.  There are many minor bug fixes and great enhancements that satisfy the real WordPress geeks.  But there are two features that the Vivid Image staff really loves – internal linking and a brand new admin bar.  (The admin bar only shows up when you are logged into the admin area of our website.)

If you are not a subscriber to our WordPress Safe and Sound plan, now is the time!  Our most popular plan includes regular updates to WordPress, plugins enhancments, premium features, and free training.  Contact Kori, Sarah, or Michelle for more information.
(below are more details about these features from a previous post on the new features in WordPress 3.1)

WordPress Admin Bar

The new admin bar will load above your site when you are logged in to give you quick access to commonly used admin pages. You can create new posts and pages, manage comments, or change your widgets.

Expect to find little surprises in the admin bar as popular plugins begin to add functionality to this menu!

Internal Linking

In WordPress 3.1, when you insert a link into a post or page you’ll notice some new options. You are a still able to paste or type a URL to an external site, but for internal linking to another page or post on your site you have a new option.

Below the standard link fields is a search box. So if you know you have written about a certain topic before and want to link to the post you are referring to, you can search for and select the post right from the link panel.

Along with the impending update for WordPress, many themes and plugins should also be releasing updates with new improvements in the near future.
